Alternative Routes for MTA Service Cuts in Brooklyn

As a chronic commuter throughout New York City, I was understandably concerned when the MTA announced that it will implement severe service cuts to help close a $383 million budget gap. And my worries have been echoed across the five boroughs. According to CNN, about 55% of New Yorkers use public transportation. That's more than any other city in the country. So it's no wonder that New Yorkers are frustrated. Luckily, MTA officials are now reevaluating the decision to cut certain bus lines in the city, such as the Bx10 in the Bronx and the B25 in Brooklyn.

While there is some hope for New York commuters, a lot of the original cuts are likely to stick. The original proposal included the following cuts for Brooklyn services:
Eliminate all service on the B23, 37, 39, 51 and 75.
Eliminate weekend service on B4, 7, 16, 24, 48, 65, 69, and 71.
Eliminate overnight service on B7, 14, 31, 45, 48, 57, 64, 65, 67 and 77.

After doing some research on the bus routes/schedules, I found a few alternative routes involving the city's subway lines. They may not offer the exact convenience offered by the bus lines, but I hope that they can help New Yorkers find their way to their destination with a few less headaches.
