And my worries have been echoed across the five boroughs. According to CNN, about 55% of New Yorkers use public transportation. That's more than any other city in the country. So it's no wonder that New Yorkers are frustrated. Luckily, MTA officials are now reevaluating the decision to cut certain bus lines in the city, such as the Bx10 in the Bronx and the B25 in Brooklyn.

While there is some hope for New York commuters, a lot of the original cuts are likely to stick. The original proposal included the following cuts for Brooklyn services:
Eliminate all service on the B23, 37, 39, 51 and 75.
Eliminate weekend service on B4, 7, 16, 24, 48, 65, 69, and 71.
Eliminate overnight service on B7, 14, 31, 45, 48, 57, 64, 65, 67 and 77.

After doing some research on the bus routes/schedules, I found a few alternative routes involving the city's subway lines. They may not offer the exact convenience offered by the bus lines, but I hope that they can help New Yorkers find their way to their destination with a few less headaches.

B23: Offers service between Borough Park and Flatbush
Alternative Routes: D & Q trains

B37: Offers service between Fort Hamilton and Downtown Brooklyn
Alternative Routes: R, N & 2 trains

B39: Offers service between Williamsburg Bridge Plaza Brooklyn and Lower East Side, Manhattan
Alternative Routes: A & F trains

B51: Offers service between Downtown Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan
Alternative Routes: N & 4 trains

B75: Offers service between Park Slope and Downtown Brooklyn
Alternative Routes: D & N trains

B4: Offers service between Sheepshead Bay and Bay Ridge
Alternative Routes: Q & N trains

B7: Offers service between Midwood and Bedford-Stuyvesant
Alternative Routes: A, Q, & S trains

B16: Offers service between Prospect-Lefferts Gardens and Fort Hamilton
Alternative Routes: R, 2, & D trains

B24: Offers service between Greenpoint Brooklyn and Sunnyside Queens
Alternative Routes: Q & 7 trains

B48: Offers service between Greenpoint and Prospect-Lefferts Gardens
Alternative Routes: G, L, & 2 trains

B65: Offers service between Ocean Hill-Brownsville and Downtown Brooklyn
Alternative Routes: 4 & 2 trains

B69: Offers service between Windsor Terrace and Downtown Brooklyn
Alternative Routes: F, Q, & N trains

B71: Offers service between Crown Heights and Cobble Hill
Alternative Route: 4 trainSamantha Manninghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12827698467468652493noreply@blogger.com0
